CHARACTER

Name: Leaf
Canon: Pokémon Gameverse: FRLG
Gender: Female
Age: 12
Wing Color: Tawny brown on the outside, a lighter cream on the inside.

Canon Point: After completion of the main game, when Leaf has found the Ruby for Celio and is trying to find the Sapphire.
Canon Point Explanation: At this point, Leaf has completed most of her journey, so she and her pokémon have really found their way. She has strong bonds with all of them, and has a certain wisdom from her time spent traveling, but  she's still young enough to be extremely driven and thrilled to explore the world around her.

History: Leaf was born and raised in Pallet Town, though 'village' would probably be a more apt name for the few scattered buildings that made up her rural home. Despite this, she was always a curious, imaginative girl, and she grew up with an intense desire to explore the entire world, let alone the Kanto region. It was natural that she fell into friendship with the grandson of the famous Pokémon Professor who lived in Town, and she spent ridiculous amounts of time with Blue Oak, poring over books with pictures of faraway places and dreaming of the day she'd be seeing those sights in person.

Of course, this changed as she grew older. Blue started to become meaner, and he grew into kind of a bully, so Leaf stopped hanging out with him. No problem. She still had her hopes of seeing the outside world - and something more. She couldn't help but become interested in pokémon too, after spending so much time in an illustrious professor's house. And so she remained generally friendly with all the kids her age, but secretly yearned for the day that she'd get her first pokémon and finally leave Pallet Town to see the region.

That day came when she was eleven. She got to choose her first ever pokémon, her Squirtle, whom she immediately nicknamed Splash. Of course, then Blue had to ruin the special moment by choosing a Bulbasaur and challenging her to a battle, but that was okay. Even Blue's meanness couldn't get her down now - her journey was finally beginning.
But before Leaf left on her journey properly, she was also enlisted by Professor Oak to complete his lifelong quest of cataloging every pokémon in the world. She happily accepted, knowing that this task would lead her to explore every corner of the region.

She left home the next day, and her journey truly began. Slowly and steadily, she trained and leveled up her pokémon, challenging the gyms at each city she visited. While Blue raced through his badges, Leaf took a more laid-back approach to life, thoroughly enjoying every possible amenity that each city had to offer, while meeting as many people as she possibly could. As a result of her long hours that she spent simply hanging out with her pokémon instead of training or battling, she developed incredibly close bonds to them all.

But her journey wasn't all fun and games. Periodically, she seemed to find herself running into bizarre, evil plots put together by an organization called Team Rocket. Leaf was initially frightened of Team Rocket and their ruthless ways, but whenever she ran into them, she was determined to defeat them, despite her fear. And in this way, she continued to travel throughout the region and discover as many pokémon as she possibly could, even visiting the Sevii Islands off the coast of Kanto, all while working her way up to the Indigo League. When she went to the Viridian Gym to try to obtain her eighth and final badge, she was shocked (and mildly terrified) to find that the gym leader was none other than Giovanni. After losing to him once or twice, she eventually defeated him, and he promptly disappeared before she could make sure that Team Rocket was put down once and for all. All in all, her final match wasn't as satisfying as she'd hoped it would be, and it honestly left her a little uneasy.

Upon reaching and beating the Elite Four, Leaf was surprised to find that the Champion was none other than Blue. However, though his pokémon were all impossibly strong, they simply didn't have the bond that Leaf shared with hers through their many adventures together. She ended up defeating Blue and taking the title of Champion from him. It was a bittersweet moment - though she wanted to win, she felt too much as if this marked the end of her journey. She was still so young! She couldn't believe that it was all over already. (And though she'd held a grudge against him for years now, she was incredibly worried that she'd lost any hope of ever reconnecting with Blue).

Luckily, this wasn't the case. When she went back to Pallet Town to visit her mom and her old home, Professor Oak asked her to return to the Sevii Islands to add more rare and unusual pokémon to her pokédex. Additionally, Celio, a scientist and friend she'd met on her first visit to the islands, needed assistance in linking PC systems to other regions. He asked her to find him a Ruby and a Sapphire in the Sevii Islands in order to make the network machine strong enough to establish a connection. Leaf happily accepted, thrilled at the opportunity to continue her journey, and immediately set off for the islands. Once there, she found the Ruby without much work, but the Sapphire proved to be far more elusive. She's currently working hard to find the exact location of the gem, cataloging pokémon and having awkward, almost positive conversations with Blue along the way.

Personality: To put it simply, Leaf is a curious, imaginative girl who has an incredible amount of determination. From when she was a young child, she's always had the ability to look forward, having big dreams for the future despite the limitations of her small town environment. Her curiosity drives her every move and decision, and she gets very excited when she gets the chance to have new experiences and meet new people. She loves broadening her horizons, and she's never afraid of stepping out of her comfort zone. In fact, one might say that she's most comfortable when she's doing something daring, reckless, and completely unfamiliar. Leaf is also very imaginative and creative. As a result, she has a very open mind, and she's a tolerant soul in general.

Leaf has a very high opinion of herself. This isn't to say that she's egotistical or narcissistic, but she definitely doesn't have any confidence or self-worth issues. She knows her capabilities, and has accepted, for the most part, what she can and cannot do. Though it might frustrate her to not be able to accomplish a task, she doesn't allow such feelings to linger - instead, she either leaves the task behind or exerts incredible amounts of effort in order to succeed. Furthermore, Leaf is very tied to her family. Although she spends most of her time away from home, she loves and values her parents a lot, and now that she's not training towards becoming Champion anymore, she tries to visit them more often in the midst of searching for the gems.

When it comes to her interactions with other people, Leaf comes off as excitable and friendly. She loves meeting new people, and this shows in her amiable nature and overwhelmingly positive attitude. Additionally, she is a very generous person. She's always ready to give other people credit for the fantastic things they do, and she gives out compliments without a second thought. Leaf is also an incredibly active person, in more ways than one. She can never stand still, and is always ready to throw herself whole-heartedly into something knew. In addition to this, she's ridiculously talkative, and she could probably carry on an entire conversation by herself if the other person didn't get too annoyed by her rambling. But her sweet appearance doesn't mean that she doesn't have a competitive streak as well. She never backs down from a challenge, and she always tries her best to win or come out on top. That being said, if she loses, she's more likely to compliment the other person on their skill than get upset over the fact that they're better than her. Her competitiveness, as a result, is much more playful, rather than being a serious quality. Finally, though she's a nice person, you can get on her bad side. She doesn't like rude people or bullies, and she's quick to bluntly tell them that she doesn't like them. Leaf doesn't hide much from other people - she's just not good with secrets.

Leaf does have some problems with focus. While she enjoys having new experiences, this does mean she has a habit of starting things and not following through with them. She's an incredibly proud person - while she isn't full of herself, that doesn't mean that she'll let other people bring her down. She's also surprisingly quick to pick a fight if someone's gotten on her bad side. She values her friendships immensely, and can be very overprotective to those close to her, including her pokémon. In fact, the easiest way to provoke her is not to insult her, but to insult the people she's close to.

That being said, Leaf has a contagious enthusiasm for new experiences and an indomitable optimistic spirit that carries her through life, and she's always excited to make new friends and find new dreams for her future.

Strengths
Physical: Leaf is quite a fit girl, having trekked around the region pretty much on foot for the past year now. She's lithe, and quick on her feet. Though she won't be winning any awards for athletics anytime soon, she can hold her own in most situations.
Mental: Leaf is a quick thinker, especially under times of stress. She has very good mental reflexes, and she's very good at logical thinking and keeping directions in her head (after all, how else could she navigate Team Rocket's crazy hideouts?).  Additionally, she's pretty street smart, after living by herself for a year.
Emotional: Leaf is confident in herself above all else. She has a very grounded sense of self-worth, and she's very sensible about what she can and cannot do.

Weaknesses
Physical: While Leaf might have muscle, she's still a twelve-year-old girl. She's too slight to really be powerful, and she's far too short to be intimidating in the least.
Mental: She didn't actually go to school after the age of eleven, so she's lacking in some fundamental book-smarts. Additionally, she has a tendency to leap before she looks, which can be a good thing (she's able to get through her encounters with Team Rocket by not letting herself get worried and just tumbling headfirst into battle), but is more often a bad thing, as it makes her reckless and just a little foolhardy. She also has trouble focusing on more than one thing, and tends to be all over the place when it comes to concentration.
Emotional: Leaf holds grudges. Not towards a lot of people, but if someone upsets her enough, it'll take a long time before she can forgive them. Additionally, if someone irritates her, she's very easy to provoke into a physical or verbal fight.

Anything else?: Like the other trainers, she's bringing in three pokémon!
Splash the Squirtle was her first pokémon ever. As a result, they're ridiculously close, and they've never been apart for long periods of time since they met. Splash has a modest nature, and is highly curious. He's also very loyal to Leaf, and will never leave her side. Plus, she thinks he's the cutest pokémon to ever exist in the world.
Ch'Ding the Farfetch'd was traded to her near the beginning of her journey. An older pokémon, more used to the ways of the world, Ch'Ding first didn't get along with her because she was so naive. After all this time together, he still thinks she's naive, but now he feels the need to take care of her and make sure she's not running into situations where he can't protect her. Ch'Ding has a serious nature, and is highly persistent.
Rocky the Steelix was first encountered as an Onix in the Rock Tunnel on the way to Lavender Town. Rocky has an adamant nature, and is quick-tempered. As a result, she didn't take well to being caught by Leaf intially. However, Leaf's dedication to training her and complete belief in her abilities led Rocky to warm up to her, and she's one of Leaf's most powerful pokémon as a result.

SAMPLES (ALL SAMPLES MUST BE SET IN THE LUCETIVERSE)

First Person: Link to Thread.

Third Person:  Luceti might be a small village to most people, but it's much bigger than Pallet Town. That automatically makes it super interesting, Leaf decides. There are just so many buildings to explore, so many people to meet... It's so much that she feels like she has to make a plan first. Maybe she'll start by the fountain and visit all the shops there - after all, that's where she woke up. Or maybe she'll start from this house and see where the paths take her.

Of course, if she lets herself actually think about it, her situation kind of sucks. There's a part of her that wants to be back in the Sevii Islands, that's sure she was super close to finding the Sapphire and finally helping Celio with his network machine. Without her, who would help him out? Blue definitely couldn't, she tells herself with an irritated snort. He's useless.

But she tries to push it out of her mind, focus jumping back to her gaze out the window as she daydreams about all the exploring she'll do tomorrow. She's here now, after all. There's no point in worrying about things that she has no control over. And anyway, it's way more fun to consider the types of people she might meet here. Maybe there'll even be other trainers here; after all, it seemed to her that people were pulled from all sorts of different worlds, so why wouldn't a couple people from Kanto be here? Or maybe even someone from Johto or another faraway region. There's a ton of new pokémon she could meet - and she'll just have to find a journal or something and take notes on them until she gets her pokédex back.

New pokémon, people from other regions, a new village to explore... it's enough to keep her up all night, too excited to sleep when an entirely new world of possibility is just outside the window.
